KAMPALA, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Egypt and Mali have emerged champions respectively in the men's and women's Under-18 events in the inaugural FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup in Uganda.
Egypt came from three points down to beat Mali 14-13 in the men's final played here on Sunday.
"We are happy with this victory because we beat a strong team," said Egypt's Ahmed Elsabbagh after the final.
To reach the final, Egypt beat Uganda 21-15, while Mali stopped Nigeria 21-19 in the second semifinal match.
Hosts Uganda won the bronze after defeating Nigeria 17-12 in the third-place play-off.
On women's part, Mali were too good for Uganda whom they beat 17-4, while Nigeria came third after defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo 8-6.
Twelve teams participated in the tournament and they were Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Nigeria, Madagascar, Benin, Egypt, Burundi, Djibouti, Mauritius, Niger and Mali. Enditem
