BUCHAREST -- Exit polls showed that incumbent Romanian President Klaus Iohannis is ahead of other candidates in the first round of presidential elections on Sunday, gaining 39 percent of the votes.

Iohannis' main political rivals, Social Democrat leader Viorica Dancila came second with 22.5 percent, while leader of the Save Romania Union Dan Barna got 16.4 percent, according to the exit polls jointly carried out by local pollsters CURS and Avangarde. (Romania-Presidential Elections)

COPENHAGEN -- Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Sunday condemned anti-Semitism and racism, following reports of vandalism done to a Jewish cemetery in the country.

"Anti-Semitism and racism have no place in our society. And this weekend's attack on a Jewish burial ground in Randers is both an attack on Danish Jews and all of us," she wrote on her Facebook account. (Denmark-PM-Vandalism)

GAZA -- Ismail Haniyeh, the politburo chief of Hamas, said on Sunday that his Islamic movement demands that the results of the Palestinian general elections, if held, must be respected.

Haniyeh told a news briefing following a meeting with representatives of Palestinian factions and political powers in Gaza, saying "there is a national consensus to hold elections. So we demand respect for its results." (Palestinian-Elections)

NAIROBI -- The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for an inclusive platform of social participation in order to accelerate progress towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) health targets.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of WHO told a health forum in Nairobi via a video conference call that for the international community to achieve universal health coverage, it must prioritize the needs of those left furthest behind, including women, children and adolescents.
