KAMPALA, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Egypt proved a strong force when they outplayed the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to win the men's senior category of the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 21-12.
Mido Mohamed scored a game-high 15 points in the final on Sunday night to finish Most Valuable Player (MVP).
"We are very happy that we have won this title," said the 23-year old Mohamed.
The DRC star player Arsene Mwana said they played against a well-balanced team.
"We are happy to reach the final of this inaugural tournament and winning a silver medal," added Mwana.
In the women's final, Egypt again proved a better team stopping Mali 18-15. Mohamed Soraya was the star for Egypt with 8 points in the final and named MVP for the women's category.
In the playoff, Ritah Imanishimwe led Uganda to bag a bronze medal with a 21-15 win over Nigeria.
According to the final rankings for men Egypt was placed top, while DR Congo was second and Mali third. Egypt was top again for the women, while Mali was second and Uganda third. Enditem
