SARAJEVO, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- The phytosanitary inspection of Republika Srpska (RS), one of the entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), has forbidden the import of one tonne of meat products from North Macedonia and Croatia because they do not meet the prescribed quality requirements, RS Inspectorate stated in a press release on Monday.
"In the past month, the RS Inspectorate banned the import of three consignments of meat products during the regular review," RS Inspectorate said in the statement.
The Inspectorate explained that three consignments contained smoked chicken fillet from North Macedonia and salami imported from Croatia which, after analyzed, determined that the total protein content was lower than that prescribed.
Analyzed meat products did not meet the prescribed conditions and the competent inspection banned them, hence protecting the rights of consumers and the domestic market, it said.
RS Inspectorate added it will enhance the control and sampling of meat products for microbiological and quality testing. Enditem
