Tunisia hosts forum to boost Tunisian-Italian trade cooperation

TUNIS, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Tunisian-Italian Business Forum was held on Tuesday in Sfax, southeastern Tunisia, to boost bilateral trade cooperation, reported the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP).
The forum aimed at discussing ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various areas, it said.
A delegation of Italian businessmen operating in the fields of services, biometric, food industry, renewable energy and sanitation attended the event.
The Italian delegation was led by Raimondo Schiavone, vice-president of the Italian-Arab Cooperation Chamber.
"Tunisia is a strategic partner for Italy, and very deep economic, diplomatic and cultural relations have always existed between the two countries," said Schiavone, adding Italy is Tunisia's second largest trade partner.
In 2018, bilateral trade between the two countries amounted to approximately 5.9 billion euros (6.49 billion U.S. dollars).
"We are Tunisia's second largest customer and supplier, with a market share of more than 16 percent," Schiavone said. Enditem
