JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- A total of 15 militants affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) group have given up fighting and surrendered to local authority in the eastern Nangarhar province, provincial government spokesman Attaullah Khogiani said Thursday.
According to the official, all the militants are Afghans and handed over their weapons to police in Achin district today (Thursday) morning.
The hardliner IS group which is active in parts of Nangarhar and the neighboring Kunar and Nuristan provinces have yet to make comment on the report. Enditem
