JAKARTA, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Seven people were killed and 16 others injured after two passenger buses collided on an inter-city highway in Indonesia's main Java island on early Thursday, the National Police's spokesman Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo said.

The accident in the Cipali toll road connecting Indonesia's capital of Jakarta to Central Java and East Java provinces occurred when one bus driver lost control of his vehicle, which led the bus crossed into the median of the road and hit another bus coming from the opposite direction, the spokesman said.

All the victims of the incident have been rushed into a nearby hospital, according to traffic police officer Aziz Sarifudin.

An investigation has been carried out to find out the cause of the road accident, he said.

The police believed that ignorance factored to the fatal collision, media reported. Enditem
