ABUJA -- Two lifeless bodies were recovered and six others injured after a petrol tanker fell and caused a huge fire along the busy Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in Nigeria's southwest region, the local road safety police confirmed on Friday.

Some 17 vehicles were also burned by the late Thursday fire, said Ganiyu Akeem, a commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps. (Nigeria-Road Mishap)

TALUQAN, Afghanistan -- Four police officers, including a district police chief, were killed in a Taliban ambush in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province on Friday, a local official said.

"Afzal Hakimi, police chief of Warsaj district of Takhar province, and three of his colleagues were martyred during clashes with Taliban in Jalga district of neighboring Baghlan province early Friday morning," Takhar provincial government spokesman, Jawad Hijiri, told Xinhua. ISLAMABAD -- Separate incidents of lightening killed at least 24 people and injured over two dozens of others in different areas of Pakistan's southern Sindh province during the last 24 hours, local media reported Friday morning.

According to the reports, at least 21 people were killed in different areas of Tharparkar district of Sindh and several others injured amid heavy rainfall and thunderstorm. Four women and three children are among the deceased who lost lives in Tharparkar.

Two people were killed in two separate freak accidents as lighting struck in different villages of Jacobabad district of Sindh. A young man lost his life in Ghotki district when lightening stuck him at his home courtyard. (Pakistan-Lightening-Kill)

LOS ANGELES -- At least two people were killed and three injured following a shooting Thursday morning at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, Southern California, local authorities said.

Several people were transported to the nearby Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. The suspect of the shooting was taken into custody at hospital, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva tweeted. (US-California-School Shooting) Enditem
