GENEVA, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- This past September had been one of the deadliest months on record in Yemen, a UN official said here Friday.

Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, told a press briefing here on Friday that according to reports, the number killed and injured as a result of conflict in this September alone reached 388.

"Yemen was affected by every possible humanitarian problem, including displacement, attacks and destruction of infrastructure," he said.

Noting that Yemen has become the world's worst humanitarian crisis, the UN official said nearly 80 percent of the population in the country need humanitarian assistance. Enditem
