JALALABAD, Afghanistan -- A total of 241 members and loyalists of the Islamic State (IS) group including men, women and children have surrendered to the government in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province, said an army statement released here on Saturday.

"A total of 241 Islamic State members and loyalists including 71 men, 63 women and 107 children have surrendered to local authorities in Achin and Mohman Dara districts over the past three days," said the statement. (Afghanistan-IS)

COLOMBO -- An unidentified group hurled stones and opened fire at two buses carrying voters in Mannar in northern Sri Lanka on Saturday as the island country began voting for a presidential election, police said.

A police spokesperson told Xinhua that there had been no injuries reported but the buses had been damaged. (Sri Lanka-Election)

NEW DELHI -- India's ace economist and former vice-chairman of Indian government's think-tank NITI Aayog Arvind Panagariya said India must join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) as it would be in the country's interest.

Panagariya, a professor of economics at Columbia University, said India's announcement of not joining RCEP did not address the country's core concerns. (India-RCEP)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodian anti-drug police have arrested a Malaysian national for allegedly possessing and trafficking 1.17 kilograms of illicit drugs, the National Police reported on Saturday.

Kek Chin Seng, a 39-year-old employee at a casino in Phnom Penh, was caught on Wednesday evening at his rental home in Phnom Penh's Chamkarmon district, the Police said on its website. (Cambodia-Drug) Enditem
