JAKARTA, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian National Police's anti-terror squad has arrested 46 alleged terrorists, including the leader of a terrorist network, in the wake of a suicide bombing attack at a police station in the country's North Sumatra province last week, a senior police officer said here on Monday.

The National Police's spokesman Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo revealed that the squad known as Detachment 88 captured 46 alleged militants in the country's capital of Jakarta, the provinces of North Sumatra, Aceh, Central Java, West Java, Banten and East Kalimantan.

Thirty three out of the 46 were linked to an outlawed Jemaah Anshorut Daulah (JAD) which is loyal to the IS group in Syria and Iraq, and believed to be connected to the fatal strike on the police station last Wednesday, the spokesman said.

"Until today, the Detachment 88 and provincial policemen have arrested 46 people, all of them have been declared suspects," said Dedi.

The spokesman disclosed that the leader known as "Amir" of the cell where the suicide bomber grouped was among those arrested in the North Sumatra province.

"Yasir alias Anto was the Amir of the network. He is the leader of the network to which the suicide bomber belonged," he cited.

Two out of the 46 were killed by the detachment for their resistance during the arrest. The two persons had skill in assembling bombs, Dedi revealed.

The suicide bombing incident in the police station killed the bomber, wounded five policemen and a civilian, according to the police.
