TOKYO, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened essentially flat Wednesday, as investors sold on concerns over the outlook for key trade talks, while others bought on the back of the Nasdaq Composite Index's overnight rise.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 11.61 points, or 0.05 percent, from Tuesday to 23,281.04.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged down 1.26 points, or 0.07 percent, at 1,695.47.

Marine transportation and mining issues led notable decliners, while non-ferrous metal and air transportation issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
