CAIRO, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The number of Egyptian children, those under 18 years old, reached 38.8 million, 39.3 percent of Egypt's population in 2019, Egypt's official statistics authority said in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement of Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) is released on the occasion of the World Children's Day that falls on Nov. 20 every year since it was established by the United Nations in 1954.
The CAPMAS pointed out that 20.1 million Egyptian children are males and 18.7 million are females, noting that 32.9 percent of children in Egypt are under four.
Egypt, with its some 100 million people, is the most populous Arab country. Enditem
