Tokyo stocks drop in morning on concerns over outlook for trade talks

TOKYO, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated further into negative territory Thursday morning on rising concerns for the outlook of a near-term trade deal between China and the United States.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average tumbled 276.54 points, or 1.19 percent, from Wednesday to 22,872.03.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 16.49 points, or 0.98 percent, at 1,674.62.

Pulp and paper, metal product and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
