NEW DELHI, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- India and Japan will hold their first ministerial dialogue under the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue mechanism, which includes foreign and defence Ministers from both sides, on Nov. 30, official sources in India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Thursday.

The bilateral talks among the four ministers assume significance as they would set the agenda for the annual summit between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in India in the first half of next month.

The Annual Summit's dates are yet to be announced by both sides, but the MEA sources confirmed that it would take place in the first half of December.

The two countries began their 2+2 dialogue mechanism at the officials level in 2010, but decided to upgrade it to the ministers level during the last summit held between the two prime ministers in Japan last year.

MEA sources said that 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue reflected the deepening relations between the two sides, especially on the strategic and security issues. The two countries' armies and air forces conducted their first bilateral exercises last year. Enditem
