BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.63 percent, at 2,885.29 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.51 percent lower at 9,626.90 points.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Friday, snapping a three-day losing streak, as investors bought back oversold issues, with suppliers for China's Huawei gaining traction on the firm's increased procurement plans from Japan.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 74.30 points, or 0.32 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 23,112.88.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 5.36 points, or 0.26 percent, to settle at 2,101.96. Trading volume stood at 495 million shares worth 4 trillion won (3.4 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,596.84 up 4.65 points or 0.29 percent, and the Emas was at 11,328.49 up 19.71 points or 0.17 percent.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 128.20 points, or 0.48 percent, to 26,595.08 points on Friday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 26,487.67 and 26,690.17. Turnover totaled 67.21 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 8.59 billion U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.05 percent, or 33.44 points, to close at 3,225.65.

A total of 1.3 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.14 billion Singapore dollars (about 836.51 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 235 to 132. Enditem
