KABUL, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Ten Islamic State (IS) militants have surrendered to Afghan forces during a cleanup operation in the country's eastern province of Nangarhar, the command of special forces said Saturday.

The operation was conducted late on Friday in the militancy affected Achin district of Nangarhar, where 10 more desperate IS locally known as Daesh militants have laid down arms and surrendered to Afghan Special Forces, Afghan National Army Special Operations Corps (ANASOC) said in a statement.

"The remaining IS members have no choice only to surrender or be vanished by Afghan National Defense and Security Forces," the statement added.

More than 600 IS fighters and their families including women and children have surrendered to security forces in Achin within the past weeks amid increasing military operations. Enditem
