DAMASCUS, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- More than 30 people were killed and wounded in a fresh bombing in a rebel-held area in Raqqa province in northern Syria on Saturday, a war monitor reported.

The explosion, caused by a car bomb, rocked the Sinaa neighborhood in the town of Tal Abyad in the countryside of Raqqa, a town that is controlled by the Turkey-backed rebels near the Turkish border.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that four civilians and five rebel fighters were killed, adding that 22 people were wounded.

The death toll could likely rise because of the number of critically wounded people, according to the Britain-based watchdog group.

The Turkey-backed rebels entered the town of Tal Abyad and other areas in northern Syria following the Turkish assault against Kurdish-controlled areas last month. Enditem
