Seedings confirmed for FIBA men's Olympic qualifiers

BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- The seedings of the participants in the FIBA Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2020, on the basis of world rankings, have been confirmed prior to next week's draw.

After failing to earn direct qualification for the Tokyo Olympics through the FIBA World Cup on home soil, China is one of the fifth-seeded teams, along with New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea.

Serbia, Greece, Lithuania and Russia are listed as first seeds, while the second-seeded teams include Czech Republic, Brazil, Italy and Poland.

The third seeds are Croatia, Turkey, Slovenia and Puerto Rico. Fourth-seeded sides include Germany, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Canada. Sixth seeds are Angola, Tunisia, Senegal and Uruguay.

The 24 participants will be slotted into four groups consisting of six teams each, with top-placed team from each group advancing to the Tokyo Olympics.

The FIBA Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments will be held in Canada (Victoria), Croatia (Split), Lithuania (Kaunas) and Serbia (Belgrade) from June 23 to 28, 2020.

The draw for both men's and women's FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments will take place at the FIBA headquarters on November 27. Enditem
