TOKYO -- Any attempt to destabilize Hong Kong or to undermine Hong Kong's prosperity and stability is doomed to failure, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here on Monday.

Wang made the remarks when answering questions from the Japanese media during a visit to Tokyo, saying no matter how the situation in Hong Kong changes, one thing is crystal clear: Hong Kong is part of China and a special administrative region of China.

NEW YORK -- China's strong commitment to multilateralism is vital to the stability, security and healthy development of the entire world being threatened by an upsurge of unilateralism and protectionism, a leading U.S. expert on China has said.
