LUANDA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- A Vietnamese couple was arrested Monday at the Luanda international airport over an attempt to travel with more than one million euros (1.1 million U.S. dollars) in currency, local police said.

The couple was about to travel on flight ET850 to Ethiopia's capital city, Addis Ababa.

The money was hidden in four boxes and was discovered by an X-ray inspection of the couple's luggage.

Carlos Silva, an officer of the country's General Tax Administration (AGT) based at the airport, said the couple were carrying a total of 818,895 euros (902,033 dollars) and 341,100 dollars.

The AGT officer revealed that since January about four million dollars have been seized at the airport. Enditem
