JERUSALEM, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Israeli military said that militants in the Gaza Strip fired two rockets at southern Israel on Tuesday night.

Israel's anti-rocket Iron Dome system intercepted one of the rockets, said a military statement.

The other projectile apparently fell on an open field inside Israel, the regional council of Sha'ar HaNegev said in a statement.

The rockets triggered sirens in Israeli communities near border with the Palestinian enclave, including the city of Sderot and the regional council of Sha'ar HaNegev.

On Monday evening, a rocket fired toward southern Israel fell on an open field, triggering sirens without causing injuries or damage.

No group immediately assumed responsibility for firing the rockets.

Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza announced on Nov. 14 that a cease-fire was achieved after days of cross-border clashes.

The violence was one of the worst flare-up between Israel and Gaza in recent years.

At least 34 Palestinians, including three women and eight children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

In retaliation, Islamic Jihad militants fired at least 450 rockets at southern and central Israel, partially paralyzing the country. Enditem
