India's Tata Communications to provide terrestrial connectivity services to Singapore's Kacific

MUMBAI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- India's Tata Communications Limited has been selected by Singapore-based Kacific Broadband Satellites Group to provide terrestrial connectivity services, including global internet and state-of-the-art cyber security services for Kacific's Ka-band satellite network, a joint release by the two companies said Thursday.

"Our high-speed broadband will reach people living across both the most remote rural locations and the most densely populated urban centers in the Asia Pacific region," said Christian Patouraux, CEO of Kacific, a satellite operator that provides high-speed broadband for underserved, remote and rural markets.

"Tata Communications has a highly skilled network and security team and a leading-edge technology that will support the Kacific 1 satellite IP delivery network to deliver optimal and redundant performance across the region," said Brian Morris, vice president and general manager of Global Media & Entertainment Services at Tata Communications.

Kacific 1, a High Throughput Satellite (HTS) will use 56 high-power Ka-band beams to deliver affordable, high-speed broadband to telecommunications companies, internet service providers and governments in South East Asia and the Pacific.

Relying on our network, the Kacific satellite system will make internet connectivity affordable for millions of people who are currently unserved or underserved, Morris said.
