CAIRO, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Experts in the Middle East have said that Chinese President Xi Jinping's congratulatory message on the UN observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People highlights China's role in resolving the Palestinian issue.

In his message, Xi said that China, as a good friend, partner and brother of the Palestinian people, is a staunch supporter of Palestine-Israel peace.

The Chinese president also said that China supports the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights, and supports Palestine in building an independent and fully sovereign state on the basis of the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He called on the international community to seek a comprehensive and just resolution for the Palestinian issue, and to help Palestine and Israel achieve peaceful coexistence and common development.

Palestinian analysts expressed gratitude to the Chinese leader for his strong support.

"We appreciate the Chinese president's support for the Palestinian people in their just cause, and as an international issue, it must be resolved on democratic foundations that respect Palestinian human rights," said Adnan Abu Amer, head of the political science and media department of Umma University in Gaza.

He noted that China has provided financial support to Palestine by funding sustainable development projects, which will contribute significantly to the economic development of the Palestinian society.

Maher Shameya, a political analyst working for several local and Arab newspapers, said Xi's message reflects China's real support to the political, economic and social rights of the Palestinians, "so as to ensure that they can live in security like many other people of the world."

Husam Dajani, a Gaza-based analyst at Ummah Open University, said, "China can effectively play an important role in the peace process between the two sides."

Iraqi political experts regarded Xi's message as responsible for and supportive of the justice in the world.

Najib al-Jubouri, a politics lecturer in Iraq's al-Nahrain University, said that Xi's message confirms that there is a need for "a comprehensive and just resolution" for the Palestinian issue, which could help both the Israelis and the Palestinians to achieve peaceful coexistence.

"Xi's announcement of readiness to work with the international community to push forward the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks reflects China's responsible and unbiased policy, and gives a strong push to the peace process in the Middle East," said Ibrahim al-Ameri, lecturer of politics at Iraq's Baghdad University.

Raed Omari, a Jordanian political analyst, noted that China has always supported the Palestinian cause at the UN and at all international arenas.

"China is a strong supporter of the two-state solution, which Jordan and the rest of the world stress is the key solution to the Palestinian issue," Omari said.

Nasser Bouchiba, president of the Africa-China Cooperation Association for Development in Morocco, said that Arab people appreciate China's important role in the peace process in the Middle East.

"We hope China could urge Israel and Palestine to settle the disputes through political approach," said Bouchiba. Enditem
