KHARTOUM, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan on Sunday reiterated the Sudanese army's commitment to protect the protest last December until its goals are achieved, said a statement by the sovereign council.

"The armed forces have made the change and will protect until the Sudanese people achieve their aspirations," said al-Burhan when addressing the army officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers at Wadi Seidna military area in Omdurman, north of the capital Khartoum.

"The armed forces have stood alongside the people based on their national duties," he noted.

The Sudanese army ousted former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11 amid popular protests that erupted in December last year. Enditem
