Tokyo stocks open higher on China's robust manufacturing data

TOKYO, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday as the market mood was buoyed by robust Chinese manufacturing data released over the weekend.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 200.26 points, or 0.86 percent, from Friday to 23,494.17.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 14.56 points, or 0.86 percent, at 1,713.92.

Nonferrous metal, pulp and paper, and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
