MANILA -- Chinese new envoy to the Philippines has vowed to "work wholeheartedly to promote China-Philippine friendship and cooperation" during his tour of duty in the Philippines.

Huang Xilian said in his remarks upon his arrival here on Tuesday that he looks forward "to working together with my colleagues and friends to continuously advance the China-Philippines relationship of comprehensive strategic cooperation." (Philippines-China-Ties)

HONG KONG -- Chief Executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam said Tuesday that more relief measures will be rolled out soon to help businesses and residents weather out economic hardship, following three rounds of such policies adopted during the past months.

JAKARTA -- An explosion resulted from a smoke grenade took place in Indonesia's National Monument Park (Monas) near the presidential palace in central Jakarta on Tuesday, injuring two soldiers, Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Gatot Eddy Pramono said.

The explosion occurred at about 7:20 a.m. Jakarta time and wounded two soldiers who were carrying out routine sport activities on the scene, the police chief said. (Indonesia-Explosion)

MANILA -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said on Tuesday that it has approved a 400 million U.S. dollars policy-based loan to support the Philippine government's efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school and unemployed young Filipinos that impedes more inclusive growth in the country.

The Manila-based ADB said this program will support government reforms aimed at improving the employability of young Filipinos through labor market programs and providing easier access to on-the-job training schemes to help them secure and retain jobs. (Philippines-ADB-Loan) Enditem
