TOKYO, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday following a positive lead set by Wall Street overnight, with investor sentiment lifted by renewed hopes for an interim trade deal to be agreed between two major economies.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 193.05 points, or 0.83 percent, from Wednesday to 23,328.28.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 9.00 points, or 0.53 percent, at 1,712.27.
Iron and steel, marine transportation and mining-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
