NEW DELHI -- At least nine people were killed and 20 others injured after a passenger bus hit a stationary goods truck Thursday in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, police said.

The accident took place in the morning at 6:30 (local time) in Rewa district, about 500 km northeast of Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh. (India-Road Accident)

NEW DELHI -- Indian coast guard with the assistance from merchant ships rescued 264 fishermen who were stranded in the Arabian sea owing to rough sea conditions, officials said Thursday.

"Some 264 fishermen rescued by seven merchant vessels taken over by three Indian coast guard ships - Samudra Prahari, Samar and Savitribai Phule," a statement issued by Indian coast guard said. "All injured fishermen administrated medical treatment and reported to be healthy." (India-Fishermen)

MANILA -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte welcomed China's new ambassador Huang Xilian to the Philippines at the presidential palace on Wednesday night, saying he is satisfied with the development of Philippines-China relations.

NEW DELHI -- India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday confirmed the kidnapping of 18 Indian sailors onboard a Hong Kong-flagged ship that was "taken over" by pirates off the Nigeria coast.

MEA sources said that they were in touch with the Nigerian authorities and security agencies to know the whereabouts of the kidnapped Indians. (India-Nigeria-Kidnapping) Enditem
