HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong police said on Tuesday that the discovery of two home-made bombs in Hong Kong's Wan Chai on Monday might not be a single case, warning that criminals may have stored more firearms and lethal explosives in the community.

The police said in a post on social media that upon further inspection by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau (EOD) on Tuesday morning, the two remote-controlled bombs were proved to be fully functional and readily deployable. (Hong Kong-Bomb)

TOKYO -- Two executives of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Tuesday suggested that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe extending his term could be a way for the party to achieve its contentious goal of amending the nation's pacifist constitution.

HONG KONG -- Office of the Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Tuesday expressed strong disapproval of and firm opposition against U.S. Consul-General Hanscom Smith's article on human rights issues.

The spokesperson of the commissioner's office criticized the article, titled "U.S. Commitment to Human Rights in HK is Unwavering" and published on a Hong Kong newspaper, as a serious violation of international law and basic norms governing international relations by openly making unwarranted remarks about and meddling with Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs at large. WELLINGTON -- The death toll after New Zealand's White Island's volcanic eruption on Monday rose to six after one of the 31 people injured has died in hospital.

Eight others are still missing and are presumed dead, the New Zealand police said on Tuesday.

Two Chinese nationals were among those injured in the volcanic eruption on the White Island in the Eastern Bay of Plenty of New Zealand's North Island, according to the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand. (New Zealand-Volcano eruption) Enditem
