TOKYO -- Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) on Wednesday green-lit plans for two reactors at the Oi nuclear power plant in Fukui Prefecture to be scrapped.

The plant's operator, Kansai Electric Power Co., believed that decommissioning of the two reactors at the plant would be cheaper than the costs necessary to upgrade them to meet stricter safety requirements necessary in the wake of the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. (Japan-Nuke Reactors)

KUALA LUMPUR -- China would work with other economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) to advance regional cooperation under the chairmanship of Malaysia in 2020, a Chinese official said on Wednesday.

China APEC Senior Official Lu Mei, who headed the Chinese delegation to the 2020 APEC Informal Senior Officials' Meeting (ISOM) in Langkawi, Malaysia, extended congratulations to Malaysia for assuming the APEC host once again after 22 years. HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Ocean Park said on Wednesday that its net deficit for the 2018-2019 fiscal year ending June 30 widens to around 557 million Hong Kong dollars (71 million U.S. dollars), more than double of about 237 million (30 million USD) in a fiscal year before.

In an annual report of financial results from July last year to June this year, Ocean Park's visitor attendances remained stable at 5.7 million, compared with the figure of 5.8 million in 2017-2018 fiscal year. (Hong Kong-Ocean Park-Deficit)

LANGKAWI, Malaysia -- Senior officials from the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies concluded a three-day meeting here on Wednesday after holding discussions on priority areas of trade and investment, inclusive economic participation and sustainability.
