PRAGUE, Dec.12 (Xinhua) -- The Czech Republic will set up the National Criminal Office, a new police department that will include an analytical center, police head Jan Svejdar and Interior Minister Jan Hamacek announced at a press conference here on Thursday.

The office will become operational on Apr. 1, 2020.

According to Svejdar, the office will oversee the entire Criminal Police and Investigation Service, but will not include the Rapid Deployment Unit (URNA) and the Institute of Forensic Science. He added that the new office and its analytical center will have full jurisdiction to aid any criminal investigations.

Stressing the need for more advanced and speedier communication between agencies, Svejdar said the new analytical center would greatly help the work of the police.

The new analytical center would assist criminal proceedings by centralizing information exchange and increasing interdepartmental efficiency, Hamacek said. Enditem
