LONDON, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.79 percent, or 57.22 points, to close at 7,273.47 points.
M&G, an international investment manager, soared 4.93 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. EVRAZ and Standard Chartered increased by 4.56 percent and 3.88 percent, respectively.
Severn Trent, a water company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.89 percent. United Utilities Group, also a water company, dropped 2.80 percent. Hikma Pharmaceuticals, a multinational pharmaceutical company, fell 2.43 percent. Enditem
