TUNIS, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia has mobilized its military forces on its southeastern border with Libya, Khaled Hayouni, spokesman of the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior, said on Saturday.

"Tunisian security and military units are now on high alert with a meticulous deployment at the land and sea borders with Libya," Hayouni said in Assabah News website.

"All units are ready to deal with any emergency," the spokesman added.

According to Hayouni, the degree of vigilance is increased in anticipation of any emergency resulting from the events currently taking place in Libya and the subsequent influx of a large number of Libyan families, as well as the possibility of infiltration of certain armed groups on Tunisian soil.

Khalifa Haftar, commander of Libya's east-based army, declared on Thursday the launch of the final military campaign in and around the capital Tripoli.

Haftar has been leading a military campaign in and around Tripoli since early April, trying to take over the city and topple the UN-backed government. Enditem
