JERUSALEM, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Israel launched a plan to support innovative energy projects at a cost of 22 million new shekels (about 6.3 million U.S. dollars), the state's Ministry of Energy reported on Sunday.

As part of the program, led by the ministry and the prime minister's office, support will be given to 15 selected energy projects in the fields of electricity, storage, renewable energy, fuel substitutes for transport, energy efficiency and environment.

Under the plan, approximately 1.15 million U.S. dollars will be allocated to the fuel company Sonol and Metropolitan to establish a hydrogen fuel station.

About 574,000 U.S. dollars will be allocated to the City Transformer company, which has developed a tiny folding electric vehicle.

The same amount will be given to an unique mobile storage project for an energy storage system used on trucks, as well as a compressed air storage project. Enditem
