MUSCAT, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- An international conference focusing on the historical relations between China and Oman started on Monday in Oman's capital Muscat.
The two-day conference, themed "The history of relations between the Islamic world and China Oman as an example," is organized by the Omani National Records and Archives Authority, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Research Center for Islamic History, Arts and Culture at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Turkey.
The conference is expected to discuss 22 papers presented by professors of history and political science, experts and researchers from Oman, China, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Republic of Korea.
These papers mostly address the historical and modern exchange between China and the Islamic world, and its artistic, scientific and literary influence.
The effect of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative on such relations will also be on the agenda.
In his opening speech, Hamad bin Mohammad Al-Dhawyani, chairman of the Omani National Records and Archives Authority, said the Omani-Chinese trade relations in history formed a milestone through the sea lines between the sea ports of the two countries. Enditem
