TOKYO -- Japan's unemployment rate improved in November for the first time in four months, the government said in a report on Friday.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the unemployment rate stood at 2.2 percent in the recording month, dropping 0.2 percentage point from October. (Japan-Unemployment)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's economic growth is expected to slow down in 2020 if the European Union (EU) withdraws the Everything but Arm (EBA) trade scheme from the kingdom, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said in a press release on Friday.

The economy is projected to grow 6.8 percent next year, slightly lowered than 7 percent this year, driven by continued export growth and strong construction activity, the press release said. (Cambodia-Growth)

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong police made 336 arrests in violent incidents during the Christmas period and vowed to take all necessary legal means to stop violence.

At a press conference on Friday, police said 244 males and 92 females, aged between 12 and 54, were arrested from Monday to the early morning of Friday for offenses including unlawful assembly, possession of offensive weapon, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and obstructing a public officer. DHAKA -- A Chinese and Bangladeshi joint venture has started construction of a mega expressway bypassing Dhaka.
