ATHENS, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Greece was affected by a bad weather system on Sunday which has caused transport disruption, bringing rain, sleet, storms, and snow, even at low altitudes, Greek national news agency AMNA reported.
The cold front sent temperatures plunging to below -10 Celsius degrees in parts of northern Greece and snow has disrupted road transport in areas of Attica region and other parts of Greece, while storms and strong winds have disrupted ferry connections.
The Fire Service intervened in 57 incidents from Saturday, including evacuating stranded motorists, according to an emailed announcement.
Temperatures are expected to drop further on Sunday and Monday, meteorologists of the National Observatory of Athens weather service warned. Enditem
