PARIS, Dec.30 (Xinhua) -- French shares lost on Monday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.91 percent, or 55.17 points, to close at 5,982.22 points.

Of the 40 selected large companies, 36 lost in the day.

French-based international ophthalmic optics company EssilorLuxottica lost 3.05 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. European multinational aerospace corporation Airbus Group lost 2.46 percent and French aeronautic giant Safran edged down 1.97 percent.

International oil and gas industry service provider TechnipFMC advanced 1.01 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French water and waste group Veolia Environnement rose 0.46 percent and European software company Dassault Systemes gained 0.17 percent. Enditem
