WARSAW, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- PKN Orlen company, which is the main sponsor of Robert Kubica, has announced that the Pole will be Alfa Romeo reserve driver for 2020.

Orlen become a co-title sponsor of the team. In 2019 the Polish company helped Kubica to make a comeback, signing a contract with Williams Racing Team after eight years of absence. However, Kubica, who scored just one point in 2019, was not able to compete with other drivers and decided to leave Williams.

"We are delighted to welcome Robert back home and we cannot wait to start working with him. He is a driver that needs no introduction: one of the most brilliant in his generation and one who displayed the true meaning of human determination in his fight to return to racing after his rallying accident," Alfa Romeo Team Principal Frederic Vasseur was quoted as saying by the official site of the team.

Kubica said he was excited at the prospect of racing for Alfa Romeo.

"I am really happy to be starting this new chapter in my career as I join Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN. This team holds a special place in my heart and I am pleased to see some faces still here from my years in Hinwil. Time and circumstances are obviously different, but I am convinced that I will find the same determination and hunger to succeed," commented Kubica. Enditem
