KHARTOUM -- A Sudanese military plane crashed on Thursday shortly after taking off from El Geneina airport in West Darfur State, killing 18, said the army.

The Antonov 12 plane "crashed five minutes after taking off from El Geneina airport" in the evening, said Amer Mohamed al-Hassan, spokesman of Sudanese army, in a statement. (Sudan-Plane-Crash)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday spoke over phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Libya and other regional issues, said the White House.

Trump told his Turkish counterpart that "foreign interference is complicating the situation" in the war-torn country, according to a statement released by the White House.

ATHENS -- Greece, Cyprus, and Israel signed on Thursday in Athens an intergovernmental agreement for the construction of the Eastern Mediterranean (EastMed) natural gas pipeline, which is to link the region's gas reserves to Greece and the rest of Europe.

BEIRUT -- Former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn announced on Thursday that he planned his escape from Japan to Lebanon by himself, a local media outlet reported.
