ALGIERS, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Algeria on Monday condemned an airstrike that targeted a military academy in the Libyan capital of Tripoli on Saturday, killing some 30 people, official APS news agency reported.

"Algeria strongly condemns the raid on a military school in Tripoli, which claimed the lives of many," APS quoted a foreign ministry statement.

"Such act, whoever stands behind it, would only stir hatred and further aggravate the crisis" in war-torn Libya, the statement said.

Algeria reiterates its "absolute rejection of any foreign interference in Libya and calls on all Libyan warring factions to work on returning to inclusive dialogue to reach sustainable solution to end this eight-year-old crisis."

Libya has been witnessing fierce battles near the capital Tripoli since April following raids launched by General Khalifa Haftar's forces to "liberate the capital Tripoli" from the control of forces loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA) led by Fayez al-Sarraj.

Sarraj is currently on a visit to Algeria, where he is scheduled to meet with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to discuss developments in neighboring Libya. Enditem
