TOKYO -- The Japanese government and prosecutors on Thursday refuted allegations made by former Nissan Motor Co. chief Carlos Ghosn in his first press conference after jumping bail and fleeing from Japan to Lebanon, that Japan's judicial system was unjust.

HONG KONG -- The Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Xie Feng said he is confident in the "one country, two systems" more than ever and believes Hong Kong will restore order and revive again.

TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday said he was in support of the measured response the United States has shown in response to Iran launching a missile strike on Iraqi bases hosting U.S. troops.

"Japan has been urging all parties involved to exercise self-restraint so it's our stance that we support the restrained response by the United States," Abe said at his office. (Japan-Measured Response-US)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said on Thursday that the friendship between Pakistan and China is getting stronger and more multidimensional with new avenues of cooperation in social and economic sectors.

"Pakistan and China have a long history of friendship, but now it is deepening and strengthening with the passage of time. Our economic and social cooperation is improving, and interaction between civil societies of the two countries is growing," the minister said, adding that this is indeed a new era in which already good friendship between the two countries is becoming even stronger.
