You Young leads women's singles figure skating short program

LAUSANNE, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- You Young from South Korea beat two Russian figure skaters with a total of 73.51 points to claim the top place of women's singles short program on Saturday.

Russian girls Kseniia Sinitsyna and Anna Frolova were 2nd and 3rd with 71.77 and 69.07 points respectively.

15-year-old You Young was seen as one of the top favorites in Lausanne. She won her fourth South Korean national title days before the start of the YOG with a successful Triple-Axel jump and a total of 220.20 points.

You came onto the ice 15th out of 16 girls. She delivered convincible performance which brought her 40.25 points in total element score.

The free skating session is scheduled on Monday.

Earlier this season, You finished her first two senior Grand Prix of Figure Skating events. She got the fourth place at the Cup of China and brought home the bronze at Skate Canada.

On Ice Dance Rhythm Dance, Russian pairs Irina Khavronina/Dario Cirisano, Sofya Tyutyunina/Alexander Shustitskiy finished 1-2 with 63.52 and 62.64 points respectively. Natalie D'Alessandro/Bruce Waddell from Canada got the third place by 59.61 points. Enditem
