LAUSANNE, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- China smashed Brazil 14-1 in a mixed curling Group B match at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics in Champery on Saturday.

From the beginning, Chinese athletes had a strong performance, scoring nine points in the first three ends. After that, Brazil got on the board for the first time in the game, scoring a single point with a precise draw.

After the break, China continued to dominate the game, scoring five more points in the fifth and sixth ends which lead to Brazil conceding defeat and a 14-1 final score.

The captain of Chinese curling team, Zhang Likun said, "We feel better than the last game, we read the competition better and reduced mistakes. Because we are more familiar with the venue, summarize the mistakes of the previous game, judge the strength, and point line more accurately. What's more, we use the tactics more decisively, reduce the occurrence of zero score, and enjoy a higher success rate."

"We know the ice conditions here and make certain shots more often. We control in each end. What we learned from the last game is to build up to the next one," said China coach Perry Marshall, "I try to make my players grow a little bit in every match and Iam pleased to see the progress that they have made."

"Zhang Likun has made the greatest progress. He always take the advice of me and apply it in the competitions. I can see he is stepping forwad," added Perry Marshall.

"Although Brazil athletes was far behind in the game, they still maintained an optimistic attitude, encourage each other. And that's great." said Zhang Likun after the game.

In other Group B matches, Germany beat Denmark 8-4 while Switzerland overcame Hungary 8-2.

Also on Saturday, Spain, Slovenia and Turkey each won first victory of the tournament while Canada. Enditem
