AYBAK, Afghanistan, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- The security forces in crackdown on the armed militants have captured four Taliban fighters from the northern Samangan province, said a statement of police released here Monday.

According to the statement, the militants were captured from Hazrat Sultan district when they were shifting a wounded militant by car to the neighboring Kunduz province for medical treatment.

The arrested militants have admitted their affiliation with the Taliban outfit, the statement added.

Samangan province, with Aybak as its capital 215 km north of Kabul, has been the scene of Taliban-led militancy over the past few years.

Taliban militants who are active in both Samangan and Kunduz provinces have yet to make comment on the report. Enditem
