DHAKA, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh Monday observed one day state mourning on the demise of Oman's Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who passed away last week.

Bangladesh on Sunday declared to observe a state mourning on Monday to honor the sultan of Oman. Oman is one of the key destinations for migrant workers from Bangladesh.

In line with the order of the Bangladesh president, the country's national flag was hoisted at half-mast at all government institutions including Bangladesh embassies outside the country.

As part of marking the day, special prayers were also offered at mosques all over the country for the salvation of the departed soul of Oman's sultan who transformed his country during his 49-year reign. Enditem
