One killed in apartment blast in Bulgaria

SOFIA, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- A woman was killed and seven other people were injured in an explosion and subsequent fire in an apartment building in Bulgaria's city of Varna on the Black Sea coast, authorities said Monday.
The incident occurred at around 4:20 a.m. local time (0220 GMT) in an apartment on the fourth floor of a six-story building, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
Firefighters evacuated the residents of neighboring apartments, and after extinguishing the fire, the woman's body was discovered, the ministry said.
The seven injured were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, the ministry added. Meanwhile, police are searching for the owner of the building.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. Enditem
