KHARTOUM, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday reiterated commitment to supporting Sudan's development projects.

The remarks were made by visiting UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash during a series of meetings in Sudan's capital Khartoum with a number of officials in the transitional government of the African country.

"The UAE is fully committed to the success of Sudan and to an economic and regional take-off of Sudan so that it would play its natural role as one of the biggest and most important Arab countries," Gargash told reporters.

Meanwhile, Sudanese Finance Minister Ibrahim Elbadawi expressed Sudan's "high appreciation for the continuous support" from the UAE.

"We are now looking forward to bolstering the relationship and developing it within a context of an integrated cooperation in different fields, including economy," he said.

Gargash arrived in Khartoum on Monday for a two-day visit to Sudan. Enditem
