TEHRAN, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili said Tuesday that "British ambassador to Tehran should be expelled from Iran over the alleged participation of the envoy in anti-government protests."

"Under international law, such a person is a persona non grata," Esmaili told reporters on Tuesday, arguing that he "illegally" participated in the "illegal" gatherings and captured videos and photos.

Iranian officials arrested Robert Macaire on Saturday amid an anti-government protests outside of a university in Tehran and detained for more than an hour. He was eventually released. Enditem
